Sudan Airways Flight 109 is an international passenger flight from Amman (AMM), Jordan to Khartoum (KRT), Sudan with an enroute stop at Damascus (DAM), Syria. The flight came in to land at Khartoum in poor weather when it crashed. The airplane burst into flames. Witnesses told Al Jazeera that some of the passengers had left the aircraft safely, but Sudan TV reported that more than 100 people had been killed. Earlier witnesses and officials had reported that the majority of the passengers had escaped before the flames engulfed the aircraft.
