Today Scandinavian Airlines announced will expand it’s network with two new long-haul routes New York-Oslo and Copenhagen-Shanghai. In addition it will launch a number of new European routes and a significant number of new frequencies. As the industry and global economy show signs of recovery, SAS feels it is in a good position to redeploy A340 capacity and put significantly more short-haul capacity into production. The New York-Oslo route will be launched March 27, 2011 and will be serviced daily with an Airbus A330-300, while Copenhagen-Shanghai will start with five weekly flights this winter, using an Airbus A340-300.
The additional European frequencies will be continuously introduced during spring 2011. Compared to same period last year, SAS will offer 150 more departures a week on key routes. Frequencies on intra-Scandinavian routes have also increased with an additional 50 departures as of September, as well as more departures to New York, Chicago, Bangkok and Dubai to begin later this month.
