September 14, 2007, Yerevan – Today Sukhoi Civil Aircraft and Armavia Aircompany reached a contract for the delivery of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 Russian regional aircraft.
Under the Contract signed by Mikhail Pogosyan, Director General of Sukhoi Company, and Armavia’s President Mikhail Bagdasarov in the presence of Igor Levitin, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Armenian Aircompany acquires two 95-seat Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft to be delivered at the end of 2008 in a long-range configuration with further option for 2 additional aircraft.
Mikhail Pogosyan, Director General of Sukhoi Company, noted, “The Contract is our gateway to CIS markets and we are very glad that Armavia Aircompany becomes our first customer from this region. It is significant, as in 12 days, on September 26, we hold roll out of our first aircraft ready to fly.
Mikhail Bagdasarov, President of Armavia Aircompany, stated, “Armavia is a young thriving company primarily operating aircraft produced in Europe and America – specifically, Airbus and Boeing. We decided to acquire Sukhoi Civil Aircraft’s product because we believe that eventually the Project will be crowned with success. Our rich practices and distinct experience will help us efficiently master aircraft operations. SSJ 100’s technological solutions comply with international standards, which turns it into a challenging and promising aircraft. All in all, we are happy to be among the first companies who are eager to master SSJ 100 operations”.
The Sukhoi Superjet 100 family goes in full accord with current and potential requirements for reliability, safety and operational efficiency. SSJ 100 is destined to become a route developer on domestic and international markets. Though Sukhoi Superjet 100 belongs to the regional aircraft, its long-range (LR) version is also feasible for quite a number of long-distance routes offering passengers comfort and providing airlines with operational efficiency.
The Rollout of Sukhoi Superjet 100 will take place on September 26, 2007, while the first aircraft deliveries are scheduled for the year-end. The current portfolio of SCAC’s solid orders (along with today’s contract with Armavia Company) reaches 73 aircraft
